    Commission Terms & Conditions

To ensure the highest quality results and a smooth commission process, the following studio policies apply to all portrait commissions:

    Deposits & Payment

    • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure all portrait commissions.

    • If a preliminary sketch or concept drawing is requested prior to beginning the final artwork, an additional 10% non-refundable sketch fee applies.

    • Work does not begin until required deposits are received.

    Reference Photo Requirements
High-quality reference images are essential to the success of a portrait. Clients must provide photographs that meet the following criteria:

    • High-resolution images (1–5 MB per photo)

    • Clear focus and sharp detail

    • Good, natural lighting (no harsh shadows or low-light conditions)

    • No selfies

    • Relaxed, natural expressions (no teeth-showing smiles)

    • Preferably not straight-on poses (slight angles are ideal)

If suitable reference photographs cannot be provided, the portrait cannot be successfully executed, and the commission may be declined.

While Colleen has extensive experience working from challenging references, poor-quality images significantly increase the time and labor required to achieve professional results. For this reason, adherence to reference guidelines is mandatory.

By commissioning a portrait, clients acknowledge and agree to these terms.
